The
Doctor and Rose decide to land near the stadium that will hold the 2012
Olympics ceremony. They land near a street that is on the route for the
Olympic Torch. But children in the street are disappearing.
They decide to investigate and after much gobbledy gook speak they find that a child is drawing pictures that trap people into an ionic universe. (Hmm, is that where The Master's TARDIS came from?)
My favourite scenes are when Rose is attacked by a giant scribble, and the Doctor discovers that it erases when rubbed out in 3 dimensions with a hb pencil eraser.
We've already had an abusive father in The Idiot's Lantern so having a nightmare father in this one was a bit repetitive. And with the next episode featuring more father's, some of which are ghosts, makes me think that the writers this series have a father-complex.
"We're going *father* than we've ever gone before." Episode 201 - The face of Boa alluded to as the father of history Episode 202 - House and trap for the werewolf designed by the current owner's father Episode 203 - Allusion to the Doctor becoming the father of a new universe Episode 204 - Main character talks about her father Episode 205 - Rise of the Cybermen - Talking about Mickey's father Episode 206 - Rose meets her alternate father, and the father of a new race of Cybermen is born Episode 207 - While attempting to meet the father of rock and roll, they encounter an abusive father Episode 208/9 - Ida is reminded by Satan that she's always running from 'Daddy' Episode 210 - Brief mention of Elton's father Episode 211 - Another abusive father that died in a car accident. Episode 212/13 - Ghosts of past father's return. Rose's alternate father crosses over. NB: Warning. The ending of Fear Her has the highest fan cringe factor
of any episodes so far. Really, you could only suspend your disbelief with
this story if you were 7 years old.
David Tennant plays the Doctor, Billie Piper plays Rose, Edna Doré plays Maeve and Nina Sosanya plays Trish. |
