Doctor Who Children in Need Regeneration segment.
Starring David Tennant and Billie Piper. Description and review.

In between seasons in 2005 Russell T Davies agreed to release a special short Doctor Who story to raise money for Children in Need. The charity helps poor children in Britain and the world. David and Billie reprised their roles specially for this segment. Some scenes were recorded without either of them being in the same studio at the same time.

The segment was played during the Children in Need festival and was also released on the BBC charity website. The website version included Billie and David standing outside the TARDIS requesting everyone to donate to the charity.

After some clips from Parting of the Ways, the 9th Doctor changes into the 10th and Rose stands there accusing this new interloper of being an imposter.

Some Rose questions: Where's the Doctor? What have you done with him? Oh My God, are you a Slitheen?

Doctor: You saw me. I changed right in front of you. I'm not a Slitheen.

The Doctor then tries to convince Rose that he is the Doctor by reminding her of the first time they met and the first words he said to her. He changes the coordinates and sets the TARDIS for Christmas Eve.

After that the Cloister Bell tolls as the Doctor tries to 'open those engines' to get the TARDIS to speed up. He goes a bit manic yelling "We're going to crash land!" and laughing before realising that his regeneration is failing. Little touches like when the Doctor doubles over in pain, the TARDIS shudders, are great isomorphic references.

I really enjoyed this introduction to David Tennant and I look forward to watching the Christmas Invasion with high expectations. Lots packed into this short segment in the TARDIS. Well worth watching. I hope they put it on the DVD release
