Summaries, reviews and news on the new series of Dr Who, starring Peter Capaldi and Jenna-Louise Coleman as the Doctor and Clara Oswin Oswald. 2016 News: Series 10 has been confirmed but no word yet as to whether it will be a split series across 2016/2017. Peter Capaldi will definitely be in it. Jenna Coleman has already left Doctor Who and won't be in series 10 as Clara Oswald. (However, she may guest appear as another version of Clara Oswald at some point!)

Regarding future episodes news, please assume that 'It has been rumoured that, suggested that' and 'media articles point to the idea that' is in front of every sentence,so you won't be disappointed. Most news is cobbled together from various sources and can change at the last minute, and that includes titles of stories! Most of this is NOT confirmed. Please enjoy these possible spoilers while waiting for the real news!

Doctor Who first started in the UK on the 23rd November 1963 and ran continually until 1989. (There was a test screening of the pilot episode a week previously in a small area of London but that doesn't count!) Doctor Who continued in the form of books, stage plays, comics, magazines and audio adventures. In 1996 a US/UK co-financed telemovie burst onto our screens. It didn't rate well in the US so a related series was never taken up. 2005 and Russell T Davies got the nod to bring back Doctor Who as a TV series. In 2010 Steven Moffat continued the legacy. Doctor Who has been reconfirmed for another annual series in 2016. Squeeeee!

BBC Blurb: Trapped in a world unlike any other he has seen, the Doctor faces the greatest challenge of his many lives. One final test. And he must face it alone.

3512. Hell Bent
        051215 by Steven Moffat
BBC Blurb: If you took everything from him, betrayed him, trapped him, and broke both his far might the Doctor go? Returning to Gallifrey, the Doctor faces the Time Lords in a struggle that will take him to the end of time itself. Who is the Hybrid? And what is the Doctor’s confession?

Early 2015: Steven says this is one of the most stressful scripts he's ever written and we're never going to guess what will happen. Um, does Clara become a Time Lady? Does she become Romana? Steven works with new characters and situations with slight nods to the past. I'm guessing he only ever really stresses when he needs to get particular Doctor Who history right, so it's highly likely the Time Lords are returning. Further rumours suggest the return of Gallifrey, the degeneration to the 11th, 10th, 9th and 8th Doctor's bodies, and the Doctor needing to sacrifice the TARDIS to find Gallifrey. There may also be a link to the 12th Doctor's appearance in Day of the Doctor.
November 2015: Yes, confirmed he goes to Gallifrey. Woohoo!

Early 2015: The Doctor is by himself, all alone. On Gallifrey. There is no one. Nothing. He has no idea where everyone is. Is he, like in The Space Museum, in another time track? Is he, like in Warrior's Gate, stuck in a reflection in another dimension? Is he, like in State of Decay, stuck in a universe on the other side of a charged vacuum emboitment? He has no idea. He wanders the empty shell of Gallifrey exploring long forgotten corridors, silent cathedrals, quiet as a graveyard rooms, and maybe visiting his old barn. (I guess this is for a few seconds before the story goes pear-shaped.)

November 2015: So what's all this with a Hybrid? There have been potentials for hybrids to be created throughout the series. Susan and David would have created one (the Doctor's granddaughter's children - human/gallifreyan) Then there was Leela and Andred. (Tribe of the Sevateem decended from Earthlings, with a Gallifreyan) Then Romana went of with the creatures in Warriors Gate. (Who knows what happened next!) But, of course, long time watchers of the show already know who the Hybrid is. Have you worked it out yet? I'll give you a clue: "I'm half-human, on my mother's side!"

So if Steven is finally addressing that which must remain unsaid by all of fandom, I'm sure it'll be totally awesome!

Which means there aren't that many unexplored classic series loose ends. Where is the Monk, the Rani, the Valeyard? Are the Axons still in a timeloop above Earth? Did Benton really become a used car salesman?
