16 Feb. Have you been watching Primeval? Well, the first 5 episodes were pretty pedestrian. Some good writing and acting but appalling editing. I think the writers must have been pulling their hair out when plot point after plot point is thrown out the window and replaced with chopped scenes and limited explanations full of explosions, dramatic movies and cleavage. Thankfully episode 6 was written by Doctor Who's Paul Cornell and it looks like they left most of his story intact. It's a cracking good story. There were lots of Cornell touches like giving a tiny bit of hope than dashing it dramatically or having the characters stage an ambush in a church and the wrong person turns up. As well as dramatic confrontations, with the women as strong as the men. Cornellisms were all there and it made me proud! If you wish to recommend an episode of Primeval to anyone, I'd recommend this one. It's a pity he's only writing episode 6 but Paul's blog suggests ep 7 will be just as brilliant. >
