Welcome to the Daily Doctor
Who News FAQ. I hope these questions and answers help you.
1. Do you list all news?
Not all. I try and avoid repeating something. I also try and avoid
listing news sources from countries that have just started screening a
new season of Doctor Who when the season has already finished in the UK.
If it is not new I don't usually list it, unless it updates previous news.
2. Do you really post news daily?
Yes, sometimes 6 or 7 times a day! Occasionally there isn't news for
the day in which case I wait until there is.
3. Are the dates the day you post or the dates of the reports?
Both. I get the report within an hour of it being posted online by
the media outlet. So, the date is almost always the same. If I find something
that is newsworthy but not reported by anyone yet, like the online voting
for the National Television Awards or Sylvester McCoy taking King Lear
world wide, then I'll list it under the date I discover it.
4. What if you discover a new report not referenced anywhere else
that had been posted online a few weeks ago but doesn't become available
or noticed by you until later?
Then I scroll the page down and post it at the appropriate release
date. This is rare though. My sources are pretty good!
5. Where do you get the news from?
Everywhere official media outlet.
6. How do you get the news so quickly?
I'm online 24/7 and if I'm away from my computer I get alerts on my
mobile!
7. Are you faster than Outpost Gallifrey?
Outpost Gallifrey and the Daily Doctor Who News Page are about equal.
Bear in mind that Outpost Gallifrey goes into a lot more detail and now
has a large team of news reporters. They also report other news in detail
like merchandise releases. This page was first in fandom reporting with
revealing that John Simms was going to play the Master or Kylie Minogue
was going to be in Doctor Who. This page was also first with the news (before
even some official media outlets) to report that the National TV awards
voting was available online or that Hugh Grant was going to be in the Christmas
Special. Outpost Gallifrey have been first with the news in other situations
including the obituary of Peter Tuddenham, convention events and revealing
covers for books and DVD releases. Outpost Gallifrey was also first to
suggest that Paul Cornell's story was going to be based on the book Human
Nature but this site was first to list Human Nature as the episode title
for Paul's first story before any other Doctor Who news source. The thing
about fandom is that no one will be first with the news all the time and
you should visit ALL the news sites! There's always something that will
be missed! I'm a big fan of Outpost Gallifrey, I don't have the expertise
to match that site and I'll happily send people there - Outpost
Gallifrey - just make sure you come back and visit the Daily Doctor
Who News page every now and then!
8. Can I link to you?
Of course. Please do! Please use this code:
Doctor Who
News
SylvesterMcCoy.com has been online since 2000 but we still only have
17 links according to Google! Please link to us!
9. Can you link to my Doctor Who Site?
Please submit your site to the Doctor
Who Directory which I maintain. I'd be happy to add your site if it
is Doctor Who related.
10. Do you need help with the news?
Thanks, but everything is okay. I only list news that I'm interested
in which I hope will be news you're interested in. I don't list everything
and I only list merchandise news if I can link to the product in Amazon.
Outpost Gallifrey is better if you wish to make contributions and get credit.
I really appreciate you considering it, though. Many thanks.
11. Can I believe everything listed here?
No!

12. Can you elaborate on that?
The Sun recently announced confidently that Freema Agyeman had been
axed from Doctor Who. The fact is that she is returning to Doctor Who at
the end of Season 4 and appearing in 3 Torchwood episodes. I link to media
reports. Media reports can be distorted for maximum effect. Take everything
with a pinch of salt.
13. What news do you list?
Only news that I find interesting and which I find through media outlets,
news reports, the grapevine and the rumour mill. Oh and maybe some Torchwood
news, and a little bit of Sarah Jane Adventures news and probably some
stuff about K9 too! So, hope you find it interesting and useful. |
14. How can you afford to run this site?
Like many Doctor Who fans who run websites, paying for hosting and
the domain name is covered through the advertising on this site and anything
that is sold via Amazon. The site only makes a few dollars a month but
it is enough to cover costs. So it is completely non-profit and a labour
of love. Hope you like it.
15. How can I contact you?
Thank you for your interest but I actually get 3000 emails a day from
various projects I'm working on and lots of spam. I'd really like to answer
your email but actually I have a years worth of emails I haven't replied
to yet so I've just given up on email. So, I'm pretty uncontactable. But
thank you for your interest. |
